Katrin Sigurdardottir - High Plane - 2001-2005 - polystyrene, conventional construction materials. A site specific installation at The Wanas Foundation, Sweden. A very large white box (7m x 5.5m x 1m) is constructed on the floor above the exhibition space. The ceiling/floor that divides the two spaces is perforated and 2 narrow tunnels that lead up to vistapoints in the white box. To view the landscape, the viewers climb up the ladders and then can poke their heads through the 2 holes in the platform. Simultaneously they are confronted with each other and their heads become a disproportionate part of the landscape. The scene does not document an exisiting place, all the mountains/ islands are made up. - more about this work - next image - previous image - bio - downloads - contact - home - |
